Sensor Excel is the second generation of the Sensor system: the same spring-mounted twin blades, with a skin guard of five soft, flexible microfins ahead of the blades. Gillette introduced it in continental Europe and Canada in late 1993 and in Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States in 1994.
It shares the Sensor mount, so a Sensor Excel handle takes original Sensor and Sensor3 cartridges as well as its own, and Sensor Excel cartridges fit an original Sensor handle. Gillette's refill packaging is labelled as fitting all Sensor razors; retailers list the three as interchangeable. Mach3 and Fusion cartridges do not fit.
Gillette's US product page for Sensor Excel has been removed and the range is absent from its US catalogue. Gillette's UK shop still shows a Sensor Excel blade listing at £12.49 for ten, marked out of stock, and a customer review on that page from May 2025 reports the product as delisted. Gillette has published no discontinuation notice for the cartridges; ask us before relying on a particular pack size.
