About the Gillette Mach3 Power system
M3Power, also sold as Mach3 Power, is the battery-powered handle in Gillette's Mach3 three-blade family. Gillette launched it in the United States on 24 May 2004 — North America in the second quarter of that year, then the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan in the third. A single AAA battery in the handle makes the cartridge vibrate when switched on.
It uses the Mach3 mount. Gillette's own FAQ states that Mach3 razors fit all Mach3 blades and that all power-razor cartridges are interchangeable with their base manual cartridge: an M3Power handle accepts Mach3, Mach3 Turbo and M3Power cartridges, and M3Power cartridges fit a manual Mach3 or Mach3 Turbo handle. Fusion and ProGlide cartridges do not fit any Mach3-family handle.
Neither the M3Power handle nor M3Power-branded cartridges appear in Gillette's current US catalogue, and Gillette's latest compatibility chart names only Mach3, Mach3 Turbo and Gillette3 blades for Mach3 handles. Because every Mach3 cartridge fits the handle, an M3Power owner is not dependent on M3Power-branded refills. Gillette has published no discontinuation date.
